I'm excited to have signed up for a course at iTDi! It's called "Breaking Rules Live" and it's presented by John Fanselow, based on his book by the same name. The five one-hour sessions promise to guide us in observing ourselves in the classroom, noticing the "rules" we're already following, and evaluating which of them are helpful and which could be set aside for other options. I'm really looking forward to the program!
Learners were analyzing letters to the editor in the Philadelphia newspaper (opinion? fact?) and this phrasal verb came up. What could I do?
